Free Computer Courses Offered in Clay County


Clay County Schools is offering free introductory computer classes for adults in May, according to a news release.

Classes on computers and cloud computing will be offered at three local schools and will include a free lunch.

This course will be taught at local school district computer labs by Jana Fletcher, Henrietta ISD business and technology teacher, and Clay County Judge Mike Campbell, former technology specialist for the Region 9 Educational Services Center. .

Each three-hour class will begin at 6 p.m. This will be a practical course, so the number of places is limited.

Here is the content of the course:

  • Cybersecurity and Internet Security
  • What is the “Cloud” and what are cloud-based applications?
  • Introduction to word processing
  • Use spreadsheets with concrete examples

The course will take place on the following dates:

  • Bellevue High School, May 3
  • Henrietta High School, May 5
  • Midway High School, May 10

The courses are offered through a grant from the North Texas Regional Planning Commission in cooperation with Clay County Texas A&M Agrilife Extension, Clay County and Clay County ISDs.
